IDF names Col. Ronen Manelis new spokesman

The Israeli army has named Col. Ronen Manelis as the new IDF spokesperson, taking over from Maj.Gen. Moti Almoz who was appointed as head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate in January.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman approved the appointment made by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot.

Col. Manelis, who currently serves as assistant to the chief of staff, will be promoted to rank of brigadier general.

Colonel D., who is serving as the head of Navy operations will be appointed as Assistant Chief of Staff, replacing Col. Ronen who held the post for the past two years.

The appointment will take effect in the coming months.
