Israeli talent show format sold to American TV network ABC

Keshet DCP will produce an American version of Israeli talent show "HaKohav HaBa" (The Next Star) for ABC, Globes reported on Monday.

The show features aspiring singers perform in front of a screen while viewers in the audience and at home vote using a smartphone app. The audience can follow the percentage of votes the contestant receives on the TV screen. If the votes surpass 70%, the screen rises and the contestant advances to the next round.

The show, that is marketed as "Rising Star" in English, is expected to air in the summer of 2014 in the US.

Other channels that purchased the format include M6 (France), Rossiya 1 (Russia), Toro (Italy), RTL (Germany), Nordisk Film TV (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland).
