Jordanian minister seeks ban on Israeli goods from W. Bank

Jordan’s Minister of Industry and Trade has requested that his country’s customs department take steps to prevent the entry of Israeli products manufactured in the West Bank into the Hashemite Kingdom, a Jordanian newspaper reported Tuesday. The daily Al Dostour reported that the Customs Department had banned the entry of products produced by more than 220 Israeli companies operating in the West Bank.
The newspaper noted the recent statement by the Arab League mission in that facilities located in West Bank settlements operate in violation of international law and are contrary to advisory opinions issued by the International Court of Justice.
Although Jordan is committed to the 1994 peace treaty with Israel, Amman has said it would not introduce Israeli products manufactured in the West Bank.
