Finance Minister Yair Lapid cancelled a briefing he intended to hold at the International Monetary Fund's annual conference in Washington on Saturday for technical reasons, not political pressure, his spokeswoman said Saturday night.

Instead, Lapid briefed journalists on the phone.

MKs in Likud and haredi parties had criticized Lapid for his Shabbat desecration.

"He should stay there in the United States," United Torah Judaism MK Moshe Gafni said.
