Opposition leader Shaul Mofaz on Friday morning urged the Israeli Center to unite, and restore Israel's character, "before it is too late."
Mofaz's comments came in response to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman's surprise announcement Thursday night that they were merging their two parties.
"There is not other choice but to unite [the center]" Mofaz asserted. "We need to put egos aside and find a shared path. Afterward, we can decide who will lead it."
"But above all, the Center must unite," he stressed, warning of a nationalistic, extremist and racist path that the new right-wing block could lead the nation down.
