Regardless of whether or not there will be a last minute reconciliation between Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev and the Israel Film and Television Academy, Nechama Rivlin will be there according to a release on Monday evening by the office of the President of the State.

Due to mutual provocations between Regev and members of the audience at last year’s Ophir Awards ceremony, it was decided that in order to avoid such unpleasantness this year, that no politicians would be invited to the awards ceremony in Ashdod. This prompted Ashdod mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri to announce that under the circumstances, he would not grace the event with his presence. The Edery Brothers, Leon and Moshe, who are the backbone of Israel’s film industry and have bankrolled countless productions, also announced that they would mot attend, though they did try to effect a face saving reconciliation.

However they made it clear that if Regev wasn’t coming, neither would they.
