After a Purim reading of the Book of Esther at the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that the tradition remains relevant in each generation.

"We don't celebrate Purim every year for nothing," he said, adding that, "With the reading of the Megillah, we express our determination to overcome those who rise against us in every generation."
