Peres: Ben-Porat a cornerstone of the justice system

President Shimon Peres mourned the loss of former Supreme Court justice and one-time state comptroller Miriam Ben-Porat who died at the age of 94 on Thursday, referring to her as "one of the cornerstones of the justice system and government oversight in Israel."

Peres said that in all of her roles, Ben Porat exhibited "leadership, honesty, trustworthiness and courage."

The president stated that Ben Porat's legal rulings and work as state comptroller helped shape the image of Israel.
