American Jewish leaders and Israeli politicians intend to renew their efforts to persuade US President Barack Obama to commute the sentence of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard.

Ahead of Obama’s spring visit, the Pollard issue is expected to unite those in attendance at next week’s meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations in Jerusalem. Pro-Pollard activists are lobbying President Shimon Peres to use his good relationship with Obama to bring about Pollard’s release.
