Two young teenage girls attempted to commit suicide together on an Ashdod beach Wednesday night following repeated harassment on Facebook, police said. A passerby found the girls unconscious on the beach and called Magen David Adom paramedics and police, Army Radio reported.

Paramedics evacuated the two youngsters to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, where they were recovering from hypothermia.

Police notified the girls' parents and administrators at the school they study in. Police said they would open an investigation into the incident Thursday.
