Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with recently appointed PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Friday to discuss his resignation, officials told Palestinian news agency Ma'an.

The meeting was set after attempts on Thursday night by Abbas' top aide to persuade Hamdallah not to resign were unsuccessful.

The results of Abbas's meeting with Hamdallah were yet unclear.
