Report: Plea bargain in the works on Rose Pizem case

A plea bargain is currently being negotiated in the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office, according to which Ronnie Ron will admit to murdering his granddaughter Rose Pizem and serve a life term, while his partner, Marie Pizem, will not be charged with killing her daughter, and serve a jail term of approximately five years. According to the Channel 2 report aired Sunday evening, Ron's and Pizem's lawyers met over the weekend with the Tel Aviv district attorney. The prosecution reportedly insisted that at least one of the defendants admit to murder and effectively assume responsibility for Rose's death. Such a deal would enable Marie Pizem to reunite with her other two remaining children after serving her prison time. Last September, the body of four-year-old Rose was found in Tel Aviv's Yarkon River. Ron admitted to striking the girl in her face, but insists that he did not mean to kill her. Once he realized she was dead, he put her body in a suitcase and flung it into the Yarkon, he said.
