Gilad Schalit, who returned to Israel in October after five years in Hamas captivity, will be covering the NBA Finals as an analyst for several Israeli news outlets beginning this week.

Schalit flew to the US to see the NBA Allstar Game in March and has watched hundreds of NBA games from the period he was in captivity since his release, according to Channel 10.

The series between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder was scheduled to begin on Tuesday night.

Schalit was expected to write columns on the series and possibly interview NBA players as part of his role as an NBA analyst.
