UN humanitarian chief calls for ceasefire in embattled Damascus suburb to evacuate civilians

The UN's humanitarian chief on Saturday called for "an immediate pause in hostilities" in the embattled Damascus suburb of Moadamiyah to allow aid agencies to evacuate civilians and provide medical treatment and supplies.
“The humanitarian community has stressed time and time again that people must not be denied life-saving help and that the fighting has to stop,” UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos said in a statement.
