Tennis: Ram and Erlich storm into Indian Wells semifinals

Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich moved within one win of their second straight Indian Wells final late Wednesday, defeating sixth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Pacific Life Open. Ram and Erlich, which lost in the title match in 2007, ended Bhupathi's and Knowles' 10-match winning streak in the last eight, claiming their 12th win in their last 13 matches. Bhupathi and Knowles were coming off back-to-back ATP titles in Memphis and Dubai, but the Israeli duo, which is seeded fourth in the prestigious event, broke its opponents serve five times during the one hour and 17 minute encounter, winning in straight sets for the third straight match in California. Next up for Ram and Erlich are unseeded Max Mirnyi and Jamie Murray, who stunned top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 in one hour and 32 minutes on Wednesday night.
