Watch: Christians celebrate Easter in the Holy Land

The holiday commemorates the date when Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead, three days after being crucified.

Orthodox Christians in Israel marked Easter Sunday with a mass led by the Custodian of the Holy Land, Father Pier Battista Pizzaballa, at Jerusalem's Holy Sepulchre.
Hundreds of pilgrims came to the church in the Old City, the faith's most sacred site in Jerusalem, for a festive mass to mark the resurrection of Jesus. The Church is believed to be the site where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected.
The congregation in the church sang hymns during the celebration.
