An explosion tore through a tank Tuesday in the central Golan Heights area injuring four soldiers.
The incident was not terror related, an army source said.
Two of the soldiers were in serious condition and two are in moderate condition, and are hospitalized at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Army Radio reported.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a shell within the tank backfired due to a malfunction, causing a gunpowder explosion.
In May, an IDF soldier was killed while taking part in the clearing of a minefield in the southern Golan Heights.
The mine exploded for unknown reasons during an advanced training phase of the Engineering Corps, a senior army source said.
