A Jewish singer-songwriter and music teacher in New Jersey was arrested and charged with receiving and distributing child pornography.
46-year-old Eric Komar was, up until his arrest, a popular children's entertainer who performed at many synagogues, camps and Jewish community centers across the US.
The Hillsborough-native was arrested on Tuesday by the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force and appeared before a Newark federal court.
Komar allegedly received and distributed thousands of photos and videos of children using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program. According to the US Department of Justice, some of the images showed children being abused.
Komar allegedly admitted to having "a large library of child pornography" after he was arrested, according to court documents.
If convicted, he will be sentenced to five to twenty years in prison, along with a $250,000 fine.
Komar is currently being held without bail.
