The Toni Eliashar SHEKEL Therapeutic Center, which provides critical therapeutic counseling for people with special needs, was officially inaugurated earlier this month. It is part of the Hebrew University’s prestigious Haruv Institute’s Children’s Campus, Israel’s leading body for research, training and services in the area of child abuse.

According to statistics published by the medical journal, The Lancet, and the World Health Organization, people with special needs are nearly four times more likely to suffer abuse, both physical and sexual, than those without disabilities.
