British soldier killed in Afghanistan

A British soldier has been killed by enemy fire in southern Afghanistan, military officials said late Saturday evening. Britain's Ministry of Defense said that the soldier from the 45 Commando Royal Marines was shot Saturday while patrolling an area near Sangin in Northern Helmand. He died of his wounds as he was being flown to a hospital. The solder's name was not released. Next of kin have been informed. Britain has about 8,000 soldiers in Afghanistan. Most are battling Taliban in the south of the country.
