Gore warns CO2 cuts needed for survival of civilization

Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore said Sunday that reducing CO2 emissions is essential to the "survival of our civilization", and reiterated he had "no plans" to run for US president. At a joint news conference with the UN's chief climate scientist, Gore called for grass-roots movements worldwide to push political leaders into action to curb climate change. The former US vice president and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will receive the shared award on Monday for their efforts to draw the world's attention to the dangers of global warming.
