A man walked into an appliance company in the Florida city and shot a woman there Friday, then fled in a car, authorities said. The victim's condition was not immediately known. Broward County sheriff's spokesman Elliot Cohen said authorities believe the suspect is a former employee of Florida Builder Appliances. The car he was believed to have been driving was found outside a nearby grocery store shortly after the shooting, he told CNN. Television news footage showed an officer aiming his weapon at the car as he leaned over his patrol vehicle's hood. At the business, a woman was carried from the building on a stretcher and brought to an ambulance as dozens of people watched.
