Pakistan troops captured militant positions in a northern mountain valley, killing 30 fighters and losing one Pakistani soldier, an army spokesman said Sunday.
It was the first time ground troops have been used in the Swat area, a former tourist destination seized by followers of a pro-Taliban cleric, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad.
