Poland ready to let Russia inspect defense site

A news agency has quoted Poland's foreign minister as saying that Warsaw is willing to let Russia inspect a future missile defense base the US plans on its soil. The Polish news agency PAP quoted Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski as saying Friday that Poland is open to Russian inspections because it wants to give Moscow "tangible proof" that the planned base is not directed against Russia. The US and Poland agreed on a deal Thursday that will see the US place 10 missile defense interceptors in Poland. The US says it is directed against rogue states such as Iran, but Russia has said it sees the installation as a threat aimed at itself.
