Russian news agencies said on Wednesday that a top military officer had warned again that Russia could target US missile defenses in Europe with ballistic missiles.
ITAR-Tass and Interfax reported that Col. Gen. Nikolai Solovtsyov made the comments Wednesday, just one day before Russia's foreign minister visits Poland.
Solovtsyov is the commander of Russia's strategic missile forces.
He said that Russia would resort to "corresponding measures" if the United States goes ahead with plans to place missile defense components in Poland or the Czech Republic.
