Truck plunges off cliff in Mexico, killing 18

An overcrowded pickup truck plunged off a cliff in southern Mexico killing 18 people, according to an emergency official. Oaxaca state civil-protection officer Luis Zarate said the speeding truck swerved off an unpaved road and fell 330 feet (100 meters). The truck had been overcrowded with people using it as public transportation. Rescue workers have identified only the driver among the dead. Three adults and two children survived Friday's accident in the rural town of San Lucia Miahuatlan. They were hospitalized but there was no immediate information on their condition.
