Sweets for the sweet
My grandfather always brought chocolate for Passover. Back then, it was a very special gift that we awaited weeks before the holiday. Although things are different now, kosher-for-Passover chocolates are still a much-appreciated gift to bring family and friends. And who does it better in Israel than Max Brenner? The 2017 Passover selection is rich and diverse. And best of all, the chocolates are packed in beautiful gift boxes.
Prices range from NIS 89 to NIS 379 and more.
An array of spring flowers
Flowers always add a festive touch. The online flower shop Zer4u has a few new designs for the holiday. They suggest an all-white arrangement or a bouquet. They are offering a special holiday deal: Buy flowers for NIS 159 or more and get a bottle of Jerusalem Wines Vintage red for only NIS 10.
Prices range from NIS 159 to NIS 199, depending on the size of the floral arrangement.
Some are sold with a vase. For orders and more details, go to www.zer4u.co.il.

A dash of oil
Eating is definitely one of the holiday’s musts, but if you’re trying to cut calories, try the new non-aerosol oil sprays by Shufersal. The line of 100% oil sprays includes olive oil, canola oil and butter-flavored canola oil.
NIS 10 during the holiday.
What a Mechaye!
A new alcoholic beverage that is perfectly suited for the Israeli spring and summer is being launched for Passover. Mechaye 13 is a pre-mixed anise-based cocktail with freshly squeezed citrus juice.
Made in Spain, the beverage has a kosher for Passover Badatz certificate.
The holiday package contains one bottle of a lemon-flavored drink, one bottle of a grapefruit flavored drink, a small 200-litre lemon drink and a glass. NIS 150.
Snack break
Worried you’ll have to miss your favorite snacks? Don’t be. Strauss has launched kosher for Passover versions of two of their most popular snacks – Ta’ami Choco and Egozi Café. The limited editions will be sold only during the holiday.
And for dessert…
If you’ve been asked to bring a dessert this Passover and find it difficult to make a fancy kosher-for-Passover cake yourself, try my aunt’s surefire recipe – buy one! Roladin has a beautiful selection of kosher-for-Passover cakes and desserts, both parve and dairy. For example, the elegant espresso cake developed with French chef Cedric Grolet, made of meringue layers with hazelnuts, espresso and layers of light praline mousse, covered with dark chocolate. There are also cookies, pound cakes, savory pies and buns. Delicious.
…with a cup of coffee
Coffee has to be kosher-for-Passover as well, and cleaning that old coffeemaker may prove to be a hassle. So if you enjoy filter coffee, serve your guests rich Rombouts coffee in classic or Italian flavor.
NIS 17 for a package of 10 servings of filter coffee
Roll models
If cakes and rolls are something you really miss during the holiday, try the new Master Chef self-rising kosher-for-Passover flour mixes, based on tapioca and matza meal. They’re very easy to work with. There is also a kosher for Passover chocolate cake mix and more.
