On Wednesday, police permitted for publication that the investigation into the death of Yoram Hachman has been reopened nine years after the lawyer was killed in a suspected mob assassination.

Hachman, who represented many affiliated with Israeli crime families, was assassinated in a Tel Aviv car bombing in June 2008.

On Wednesday police announced the investigation and Hebrew media reported that police used tractors to conduct searches related to the case. A gag order was placed on all details of the investigation by the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

In 2015, one of Israel’s most well-known organized crime figures, Netanya mob boss Asi Abutbul, was investigated in connection to the death. Abutbul, who is already serving a 17-year sentence for a series of other charges, was represented by Hachman.

The investigation into the murder was renewed as part of Case 512 in which some 50 suspects were arrested in 2015 on suspicion of various murders and other violent crimes.
