President Reuven Rivlin visited Navy seamen on Wednesday and was given a special tour off the coast of Gaza. Rivlin met with Navy commander Maj.-Gen. Eliyahu Sharvit who discussed with the president the various challenges the Navy is facing.
Rivlin toured the Tamar gas field and was shown how the navy is defending the vital interests of the Jewish state.
The president thanked the sailors who intercept smugglers and would-be terrorists attempting to enter the country from the Gaza Strip, saying that the navy’s ability to be both sensitive and firm “led the sea-branch of the armed forces to meaningful, important achievements.”
