Three teenage boys stand accused of raping a local teenage girl in a town in the Shfela region, it was cleared for publication on Sunday.

The alleged incident took place about a month ago, police said, when the girl agreed to meet up with the three boys at a local "zula", or hang out spot popular with teens. At some point police suspect the boys took advantage of her and performed sexual acts on her against her will.

Since the incident, the girl has been hospitalized at a mental health clinic and is not speaking, police said.

Police said that the girl was studying at a boarding school for at-risk juveniles, and the suspects had heard about her from friends and did not study with her at the same school. Police said that they believe the girl went with them willingly, but that at some point they suspect that the boys began performing acts on her against her will, possibly through threats or physical violence.

On Thursday, the night before Passover, the three boys aged 13 and 14 were arrested and ordered kept in custody until Monday.

Police said Sunday the investigation is still ongoing.
