A Jewish criminal killed himself early Monday morning in the Jerusalem detention center where he was being held, police said. The man was arrested for drug dealing and had a past criminal record. He hanged himself with a belt in the shower of the Jerusalem lockup shortly after midnight, once his co-prisoners had gone to sleep. Guards found his body soon after at the Russian Compound detention center, the police said. Medical efforts to resuscitate the detainee failed, and his body was transferred to the Abu Kabir forensic institute for an autopsy.
