Kadima's Haim Ramon, formerly an MK of the Labor Party, underwent coronary angioplasty at Sheba Medical Center after feeling chest pains on Sunday. He was diagnosed as having had a heart attack.
The balloon-therapy catheterization was used successfully to open a clogged coronary artery. Ramon, who is 56, was said by the hospital to be in "excellent condition" and under observation.
