Labor, Shas, Gil consider forming 'social bloc'

Hours after the official election results began to stream in Wednesday, Labor Party officials were on the phone with Shas and the Gil pensioners' party representatives to begin negotiations on the formation of a "social bloc." Together, the three parties command 40 mandates, enough to put them in a formidable position to make demands of Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who has expressed interest in adding them to his coalition.
