Naveh to send apology letter to King Abdullah II

OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh is scheduled to send a letter of apology to King Abdullah II of Jordan after comments he made during a Wednesday press conference. In a statement strongly condemned by the Jordanian monarchy, Naveh warned that King Abdullah II risked being toppled by an "Islamist axis" and could be the last king of Jordan. Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz distanced themselves from Naveh's remarks and reiterated Israel's respect for the Jordanian government, Israel Radio reported.
