Nirim woman hospitalized, feared to have bird flu

A 60-year-old from the southern kibbutz of Nirim was taken on Sunday to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba while suffering from high fever. The woman had apparently been employed on a private chicken coop on the kibbutz. There was concern that she may have contracted the deadly bird flu that infected turkeys at the neighboring kibbutzim of Ein Hashlosha and Holit. Meanwhile, the four people from Ein Hashlosha who were hospitalized in isolation under suspicion of having contracted the disease were found negative for bird flu.
