Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres said Tuesday that Israel was weighing some of the requests made by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, including the release of Palestinian prisoners. Peres spoke in an interview with Israel Radio, saying that Hamas needs to be fought relentlessly, but also that the PA needs to be helped without hesitation. Peres said he believed that Abbas understood how Hamas was hurting Arab interests.
