Peretz: Labor joining Netanyahu's gov't would be irresponsible

MK Amir Peretz reiterated on Monday evening that Labor should not join the next government headed by Likud chairman and Prime Minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu, saying that to do so would be "irresponsible." "Using the issue of defense to get into a unity government is irresponsible," he said, alluding to Labor Chairman Ehud Barak's desire to join the coalition so as to continue in the role of defense minister. "I think every government knows that on security issues [most parties would back it], and especially Labor," Peretz continued. Speaking during an appearance on a Channel 10 evening news show, Peretz added that his party joining the opposition would be good for Labor and good for Israel.
