An alert security guard at the Damun prison near Karmiel thwarted an escape attempt Wednesday night, Army Radio reported on Thursday.
Two Fatah security prisoners - one from the Balata refugee camp, jailed for shooting at IDF forces, and one from Kalkilya, accused of planting an explosive device - were apprehended while attempting to break through the prison wall with a pipe.
Prison authorities reported that the two had admitted during questioning that they planned to escape.
