Prime Minister Ariel Sharon called newly elected Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday to congratulate him for winning the vote. He also used the opportunity to thank him for his concern during Sharon's hospitalization during the last two days. The prime minister also thanked Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom for his sympathy during Sharon's illness. After winning the Likud race, Netanyahu moved into his new office in the Jabotinsky House in Tel Aviv. He said he plans to clear the Likud of criminal and other negative elements that damage the movement's image. Israel Radio reported that he wanted to turn the party into an influential one.
