US urges Hamas to cease rocket attacks on Israel

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe urged Hamas on Saturday to cease its rocket attacks on Israel while expressing concern about getting humanitarian supplies to Palestinians living in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. Johndroe said that President-elect Barack Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii, will receive a security briefing later Saturday on the escalation in hostilities between Israel and Hamas. Johndroe was accompanying President George W. Bush who is spending the holidays at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
