A message from the Israel Prisons Service which contained a warning that the life of slain lawyer Yoram Hacham was in danger never reached police, Army Radio reported on Friday. Hacham, who represented a number of underworld crime family bosses, was murdered in a car bombing in Tel Aviv on Wednesday evening. According to the report, a prisoner passed on information in March, saying there was a plot to assassinate Hacham. The warning was passed on to the communications officer responsible for keeping the Israel Prisons Service and the police in touch, but the officer failed to pass the message on to its inended destination, the Central Unit of Tel Aviv police. "This is a severe and scandalous failure," a senior police officer was quoted as saying. Both the police and prisons service said they were not prepared to discuss intelligence-sharing between the organizations.
