The Conference of European Rabbis condemned on Monday any publication which insulted religious beliefs.
Spokesman Rabbi Yosef Sitruk said that he understood the anger and hurt felt by Muslims when their faith was ridiculed.
The conference however, harshly criticized the violent reaction to the cartoons and pointed out that anti-Semitic caricatures are printed on a regular basis in Islamic countries.
