Dog adoption mission sprouts wings

Seven dogs were flown from Eilat to the Let the Animals Live shelter in central Israel last week in the latest rescue mission carried out by the city's three-year-old "Flying to Adopt" project, reports www.local.co.il. City officials said that the dogs, mostly abandoned pets or strays found wandering the streets, had much better chances of finding homes in the center of the country than they had in Eilat. According to the report, a total of 264 dogs have been flown to the Let the Animals Live animal welfare organization since the "Flying to Adopt" project began three years ago. "Dogs flown to the center of the country are adopted immediately upon arrival, while there is no demand for those in Eilat, and this is a shame," a municipal veterinary department spokesman said. He urged the general public to "adopt a four-legged friend."
