Former tax collection head sent to jail

He was convicted of erasing the tax debts of residents to whom he owed money.

A former head supervisor in Tel Aviv's municipal tax collection department has been sentenced to six months in jail after being convicted of erasing the tax debts of residents to whom he owed money, reports www.local.co.il. The supervisor, who worked for the municipality for 23 years and was fired after an investigation against him began in 2003, admitted that he had wiped out the tax debts of people he knew personally and to whom he owed money. The amounts involved were not reported. In addition to the six-month jail sentence, a Tel Aviv District Court Judge sentenced him to another 15 months on parole.
