Kfar Saba - education protest bears little fruit

Fifty supporters of Kfar Saba's Tapuah (Tarbut, Pituah, Hinuh - Culture, Development, Education) list headed for the streets this week in a pre-election protest against the city's lack of investment in education, reports www.mynet.co.il. The protesters set up signs and placards opposite City Hall saying that the city was not investing enough in education, and sent children carrying apples (tapuhim) into the building's grounds to show their support for the party, which is running for council in the coming municipal elections. "The city is not doing enough for education," demonstrator and head of the party's list Yuval Levy said. "They didn't even give us the permits to protest this properly. We wanted a demonstration of 100 to 200 people, and we received a permit for only 50 people, and only for half an hour." A spokesman for Mayor Yehuda Ben Hamo said the mayor and his Ma'of faction were "busy with actions and not with the promises of a virtual party." The spokesman said education received first priority when it came to municipal resources and had won a national education prize.
