The city of Ra'anana has begun selling special compost bins to residents with the aim of encouraging them to turn their food scraps into organic fertilizer, reports www.local.co.il. The bins, designed specifically for domestic use, are also being placed at seven elementary schools and two kindergartens in the city as part of the Education Ministry's policy to encourage recycling and environmental preservation. The report said the city recently purchased 50 of the bins and is selling them for the subsidized price of NIS 225 each, instead of the full price of NIS 425.
