Tasting Uzbek specialties at a food festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, made us curious about the cuisine of Uzbekistan.At the festival, Shahida Mehdieva from the Embassy of Uzbekistan told us that the rice entrée called plov is the best-known dish of her country. She said it’s made of long-grain rice with sautéed onions, carrots, raisins and lamb.
