Bush to meet presidents of the Palestinian Authority , Lebanon

President George W. Bush was scheduled to hold meetings with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday. Mideast peace was to be the topic of Bush's talks with Abbas, while the US president was expected to offer continued American support for a democratic Lebanon in his meeting with Suleiman, a man seen as relatively friendly with Syria. Singh was in Washington trying to rally congressional support for a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement. The two presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, as well as congressional leaders were expected to attend a meeting with Bush Thursday to discuss a rescue plan for the US economy. The meeting was a last-minute addition to the president's busy schedule.
