Khaled Mashaal, the political leader of the Palestinian group Hamas, arrived in Ankara on Thursday, apparently for talks with Turkish leaders, private NTV television reported.
The Foreign Ministry did not immediately say whether there were any scheduled talks.
Turkey, which has close ties with both Israel and the Palestinians, has said it is ready to guide Hamas to renounce violence.
