Syrian parliamentarian blames Israel for Mughniyeh's assassination

Syrian parliamentarian Mohammad Habash on Wednesday blamed Israel for the assassination of Hizbullah's terror chief Imad Mughniyeh. "Of all possible suspects, Israel would have the most to gain," Habash told BBC Arabic. Habash went on to say that the assassins knew that Thursday marks the anniversary of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri's assassination, expressing hope that commemorative events in Beirut would not spiral out of control in the wake of Mughniyeh's death. Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora sent his condolences to Mughniyeh's family as well as to the Hizbullah leadership, and Hariri's son Saeb Hariri also condemned the killing.
